Maybe the waist wasn't in the right place. Maybe the neckline didn't fit the way you wanted it to. Maybe the shoulders didn't "fit" properly or the length wasn't ideal for your height and proportions.

This happens for a very simple reason: no body is the same as another.

Two women can wear the same size and have similar measurements, but have different proportions, different torso lengths, different body postures, and different body volume distribution.

This is exactly where the difference lies in a handmade, tailor-made dress. A ready-made dress is created to fit a specific size range. A handmade dress, on the other hand, can be designed and manufactured based on the specific body of the woman who will wear it.


The standard size cannot know your own body

Ready-made clothes are manufactured based on specific size standards. This is necessary for mass production, as a design must be able to be produced in different sizes and worn by many different women.

However, a standard size cannot know the small but important peculiarities of each body. For example:

  • the chest may be at a different height,
  • the waist may be higher or lower,
  • the torso may be longer or shorter,
  • the shoulders may have a different slope,
  • the back may have a different curvature,
  • the hips may have a different proportion to the waist,
  • or the body posture may affect the way the fabric falls.

And these seemingly small differences can significantly affect the final fit. That's why a dress that looks great on one woman may not look exactly the same on another.

It's not necessarily the body's fault. Nor is it necessarily the dress's. It's just that this particular design was not created from the beginning for these specific proportions.


A handmade dress starts with you

In the case of a tailor-made dress, the process is different. It doesn't just start with a ready-made size. It starts with the woman who is going to wear it.

Proportions, personal measurements, body posture, and the desired fit are taken into account from the earliest stages of creation.

This means that the design can be adapted to the actual needs of the body. The position of the waist, the height of the neckline, the length of the torso, the proportions of the skirt or bust and many more details can be studied so that the final result is harmonious on the specific woman.

The correct fit starts before the fabric

When we see an impressive dress, we usually first notice the fabric, the color, the line and the details. However, a large part of the final image has been decided much earlier. In the pattern.
